Runa Khan is an Ashoka fellow, Schwab Foundation social entrepreneur and a Rolex Laureate. She is Founder and Executive Director of FRIENDSHIP, a social purpose organisation. Founded in 2002 FRIENDSHIP provides basic services to the most inaccessible and neglected communities living in the country’s hardest to reach areas, the riverine islands. Friendship’s development solution is now accessible to 5 million lives a year, providing integrated services for women, children and climate impacted communities. In 2006 she founded FRIENDSHIP International which operates from 5 European countries, in a first of its kind partnership, which started from the Global South to the Global North.
