Maryam Young

Human Relations Director: Sub-Saharan Africa & Human Right Correspondent L’Oréal, South Africa

Currently serving as the HR Director for Sub-Sharan Africa, a career I would never have imagined as a young girl growing up in a marginalized township in Johannesburg, South Africa.

As a HR professional, I have committed to playing my part in shaping organizational cultures that champions diversity, equity, and empowerment. This passion for cultivating the full potential of individuals, especially women in the workforce, has resulted in tangible advancements and positive change within the organizations I have served.

I believe that my greatest strength is in human connections; in providing support that goes beyond the scope of HR. It is in building these partnerships that my passion is fueled to make a positive impact in people’s lives.

I am also a daughter, sister, wife, mum of 3 children and a friend. While I thrive in my role at work, my true purpose lies in living a life that is full and holistic. My family forms the core of my being, providing inspiration and grounding that makes me a better person both at home and in the professional sphere. With a heart dedicated to both career success and personal growth, I am able to navigate the delicate balance between work and family, cherishing the richness each aspect brings to my life.
