Esther was married at the age of 25 years and relocated to Tema where she lived with her husband. She is currently widowed and takes care of her own children and those of her brother who passed away some years ago. She supports 10 persons as a whole. Esther started work at Unilever Ghana Ltd. as a laborer for a year. Later on she moved to Agrofood Limited where she was employed as a cleaner for 10 years. Then Esther started working at the Palace of the Chief of Tema where she is a cleaner, and attends to cleaning the Palace early in the morning and late in the afternoon every day. To ensure that she earns enough to take adequate care of her family and dependents, Esther added waste picking to her cleaning work at the Palace. Esther’s largest income earning now comes from her waste picking activities.
